A small island of art, Inujima vol.2

Then, shall we head for ‘Inujima Art House Project’

There are three galleries in the residential area
The project was completed by an art director Yuko Hasegawa, and an architect Kazuyo Sejima.
Each gallery exhibits the art work by Yukinori Yanagi.

This is ‘F-Art House’.

It has an installation inside, expressing the sun changing its appearance as time goes by It was really impressive

The ceiling draws a gentle curve, reflecting the scenery.
We found our voice was echoing like if we were in a tunnel.

This is ‘I-Art House’.

It has a big screen inside which shows the image of the tragedies in 20th century.

On the other hand, its garden with various kinds of flowers expresses a hope for the future.

We found the project efficient since we can enjoy art and a stroll in the island in the same time

The town scape of the island was beautiful and peaceful

We explored the neighborhood

This is ‘Yama shrine’. It’s sacred the stone god.

The island used to prosper by producing granite (it was used for buildings), so people worshipped the stone.
Such a huge stone

We arrived at south part of the island, there are a beach and a camping site.

You can also see ‘Hamabe no objet’, a group of
sculptures made of stone on the beach.
I saw the stone chairs were lining up facing the sea.

I understood why it was named ‘the sketch’
It’s because of this picturesque view

There was an unique sculpture, it has a hole looked like a window.

If you looked through the window, the sea would look like a framed picture.

And of course, there is a sculpture of a dog linked to the name of the island 'Inujima (the island of dogs)'

It's facing the sea, and it seems to be thinking about something.

We are nearing the end of our trip

I was impressed by a happy blending of nature and art. It makes this island special
I felt relaxed, I recharged my battery

You should visit Inujima when you come to Okayama

The best location for taking a photo

I took this photo from the heights next to the museum.
You can see the copper refinery at the front, and Setonaikai Sea at the back.
It’s the best view point

It’s a chimney, a symbol of the copper refinery.
I’ve got an impression that its powerful looks shows a hope for the future

I took this picture from a low angle to emphasis the imposing figure of the building
